The Opening
Surat Al- Fateha.
When we view Bani Adam Race through science and time, we see the Marvel called Evolution. From Bacteria Allah has very slowly built up by adding DNA, all the Creatures Past and Present. As Time progressed, more complex Creation came into Being. Till we reach Man. This journey of Creation is called Evolution. It can only be seen in the Past as a Certainty.
What about the Future? This seems to remain in the domain of Uncertainty, i.e. Belief. But if through a continuous unexplainable Acts a story is revealed, where there is no visible worldly interest in its content, then this story roots into the hearts of some people as Truth. This story starts attaining the status of Certainty.
The story in Quran is one such story. Our Creator Allah speaks through Quran. He directs us in many things. The gist of it is that we are on our way to meeting Him. Through the Process of Death and Resurrection. He will transmute us into forms, He says we cannot guess. All this is mandatory irrespective of our behaviour, conscious or unconscious.
Now we come to the View as seen by an individual, vis a vis in the act of living. If he is enlightened by this story, and has a sensitive enough heart, he may now want to devote some Time to Allah. His civilisation can play a very disruptive role in this venture. But all Creators love their Creation. Man should easily see this as a Fact, as he is a creator inventor in some fashion also. So Allah in His grand Design, through Quran has informed Us of our above Destiny. This Evolutionary march towards Him. In fact He has laid out the Quran in such a Way that its very first Surat He calls by the name of The Opening. Here He by defining Himself first, asks us to Ask Him, for our Individual Evolution. A sort of Personal Training. Here in this Life. This He calls as Sirat Musteqeem. He then assures our fearful distrusting hearts, that He would through Evolutionary Methods, grant us good things, and never be Angry with us, and will not allow us to stray. The rest of the Quran and His Actions, seem to be an answer to this Prayer.
Unfortunately some translations by interpreting the Sirat Musteqeem as the Straight Way, have distorted the sense into saying that Allah has three types of dealings with Humans. To some He gives good things, with some He is angry, and some He allows to stray meaninglessly. What is needed is to consult the Quran as to what He means by Sirat Musteqeem.

Inna Allaha rabbee warabbukum faoAAbudoohu hatha siratun mustaqeemun
3:51 "'It is Allah Who is my Lord and your Lord; then worship Him. This is a Way that is straight.'"
Allah is my and your Rabb so listen and obey him, that is sirat Mustaqeem.

Wakayfa takfuroona waantum tutla AAalaykum ayatu Allahi wafeekum rasooluhu waman yaAAtasim biAllahi faqad hudiya ila siratin mustaqeemin
3:101 And how would ye deny Faith while unto you are rehearsed the Signs of Allah, and among you Lives the Messenger. Whoever holds firmly to Allah will be shown a way that is straight.
Holding firmly to Allah and you will be shown sirat Mustaqeem.

4:68 And We should have shown them the Straight Way.
And we would have given them from our presence a great reward, and we would have shown them the Sirat Musteqeem.

4:175 Then those who believe in Allah, and hold fast to Him, - soon will He admit them to mercy and grace from Himself, and guide them to Himself by a straight way.
After admitting them to His Mercy and Grace, He will Guide them to Himself, by Sirat Musteqeem.

5:16 Wherewith Allah guideth all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leadeth them out of darkness, by His will, unto the light,- guideth them to a path that is straight.
He guides to His Noor by His Will, Guides them to Sirat Musteqeem.

Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina summun wabukmun fee alththulumati man yashai Allahu yudlilhu waman yasha yajAAalhu AAala siratin mustaqeemin
6:39 Those who reject our Signs are deaf and dumb, - in the midst of darkness profound: whom Allah willeth, He leaveth to wander: whom He willeth, He placeth on the way that is straight.
Allah leaves to wander whoever He Wills, and He places on the Sirat Musteqeem whoever He Wills.

Wamin abaihim wathurriyyatihim waikhwanihim waijtabaynahum wahadaynahum ila siratin mustaqeemin
6:87 (To them) and to their fathers, and progeny and brethren: We chose them, and we guided them to a straight way.
He chose them and so guided them to the Sirat Musteqeem.

6:126 This is the way of thy Lord, leading straight: We have detailed the signs for those who receive admonition.
Thus is the way of your Rabb for the Musteqeeman, We have detailed the signs for those who are receiving Admonition.

Qul innanee hadanee rabbee ila siratin mustaqeemin deenan qiyaman millata ibraheema haneefan wama kana mina almushrikeena
6:161 Say: "Verily, my Lord hath guided me to a way that is straight,- a religion of right,- the path (trod) by Abraham the true in Faith, and he (certainly) joined not gods with Allah."
Qul, I have been guided by my Rabb to Siratin (tariqat) Musteqeemin (successful), Deen (law) Qiamin (prevailment), of Community of Ibrahim the Hanifan (inward looking),and he was not of the Mushraqeen.

Waanna hatha siratee mustaqeeman faittabiAAoohu wala tattabiAAoo alssubula fatafarraqa bikum AAan sabeelihi thalikum wassakum bihi laAAallakum tattaqoona
6:153 Verily, this is My way, leading straight: follow it: follow not (other) paths: they will scatter you about from His (great) path: thus doth He command you. that ye may be righteous.
This is my sirat Musteqeem, follow it and not others, lest you be parted from His ways. Thus He commands you that you may be righteous.

Qala fabima aghwaytanee laaqAAudanna lahum sirataka almustaqeema
7:16 He said: "Because thou hast thrown me out of the way, lo! I will lie in wait for them on thy straight way:
Satan is trying to deviate us from sirat Mustaqeem.

11:56 "I put my trust in Allah, My Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving creature, but He hath grasp of its fore-lock. Verily, it is my Lord that is on a straight Path.
Verily it is my Rabb (Evolver) who is on the sirat Musteqeem.???? The way to Him.

Qala hatha siratun AAalayya mustaqeemun
15:41 ((Allah)) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me.

16:76 Allah sets forth (another) Parable of two men: one of them dumb, with no power of any sort; a wearisome burden is he to his master; whichever way he directs him, he brings no good: is such a man equal with one who commands Justice, and is on a Straight Way?

16:121 He showed his gratitude for the favours of Allah, who chose him, and guided him to a Straight Way.

Waawfoo alkayla itha kiltum wazinoo bialqistasi almustaqeemi thalika khayrun waahsanu taweelan
17:35 Give full measure when ye measure, and weigh with a balance that is straight: that is the most fitting and the most advantageous in the final determination.
Almustaqeemi is translated as straight balance.

22:54 And that those on whom knowledge has been bestowed may learn that the (Qur'an) is the Truth from thy Lord, and that they may believe therein, and their hearts may be made humbly (open) to it: for verily Allah is the Guide of those who believe, to the Straight Way.
Allah guides those who believe in Sirat Musteqeem.

Likulli ommatin jaAAalna mansakan hum nasikoohu fala yunaziAAunnaka fee alamri waodAAu ila rabbika innaka laAAala hudan mustaqeemin
22:67 To every People have We appointed rites and ceremonies which they must follow: let them not then dispute with thee on the matter, but do thou invite (them) to thy Lord: for thou art assuredly on the Right Way.
Every people have their ceremonials and madhzabs so do not dispute, but Invite them to your Rabb for you are on guidance from Mustaqeemin.

Wainnaka latadAAoohum ila siratin mustaqeemin
23:73 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way;
You are calling them to Sirat Mustaqeem.

48:20 Allah has promised you many gains that ye shall acquire, and He has given you these beforehand; and He has restrained the hands of men from you; that it may be a Sign for the Believers, and that He may guide you to a Straight Path;

33. We have heard a Book revealed after Moses confirming what came before it, it guides to the Truth (Haq) and to Tareeqin Mustaqeem.
34. That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the Past and those to Follow, fulfill His Favour to thee; and guide thee on Sirat Musteqeem.
35. And that He may guide you to sirat Musteqeem.
36. Is one who walks headlong face groveling better guided or one who walks evenly on a Sirat Musteqeem. Is one walks headlong face groveling better guided or one who walks evenly on a Sirat Musteqeem.
Going through the above Ayats repeatedly one arrives at some conclusions.
1. He Selects whom He Likes.
2. He then Directs invisibly that person towards Sirat Mustaqeem.
3. This starts the person’s journey towards Himself, here.
